About the Podcast
The idea for Proudly On Record was born in an Arby’s over a pile of curly fries. Hosts Elise and Kari were discussing how many of their queer friends had been silenced and shamed by the people and institutions that were supposed to love them. In no time at all, they came up with a list of twenty people. That moment made one thing clear: these stories were everywhere, and they needed to be told.
This podcast exists because we believe storytelling is an act of resistance. Every guest who sits down with us is carrying on the legacy of our queer ancestors who fought, bled, and died so that we could have the freedom to speak openly. Sharing our stories, especially when they are so often marked by pain and rejection, is not a small thing.
It is brave. It is defiant. It is radical.
We do not take that lightly. We are committed to honoring that bravery by creating a space that is safe, affirming, and worthy of the trust our guests place in us. Our greatest hope is that in hearing these stories, someone out there feels a little less alone, a little less scared, and a whole lot more loved.
